Students We Serve

We believe that parents are the child’s first and most important teacher and that children whose parents are involved in their educational program are the most successful academically. Therefore, we encourage and support each family’s attempt to be involved in the academic life of their child.

Our school provides services to children who have been identified with an emotional or behavioral disability and/or autism. Students must be referred by their local school district Nonpublic Placement office/team through the IEP process. Some of the challenges that our students present:

  • Inability to learn which may or may not be explained by intellectual, sensory, or health factors
  • A developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal communication and social interaction
  • Engaging in repetitive activities and stereotyped movements, resistance to environmental change or change in daily routines, and unusual responses to sensory experiences
  • Inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers
  • Inability to cope with emotions and feelings under normal circumstances, which could present as disruptive and/or unsafe behaviors
  • General pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression
  • Tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems; and/or aggressive, harmful behaviors

Children may also have secondary problems such as:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Health impairments
  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Speech and language disabilities
