Independence Academy
Independence Academy, available to students in grades 9-12, gives students the opportunity to develop the skills they need to be independent and successful in life. In addition to our rigorous academic curriculum and school-to-work program, students are now also able to choose a career readiness path in information technology, digital media, business and entrepreneurship, or hospitality.
With technical instruction in specially designed vocational classrooms and internal and external work experiences with support from job coaches, Independence Academy exposes students to the skills that will help them in the workplace such as showing up to work on time, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills. Our transition coordinators assist parents and students in transitioning beyond high school, whether to employment, an apprenticeship program, a trade school, or a two- or four-year college program.
Upon Graduation Students Will Have Developed Experience In:
Information Technology: Computer-related technology, the media and entertainment industry and technology support.
Digital Media: Photography, media, graphic arts and web design, and animation.
Business and Entrepreneurship: Customer service and retail business, office management and warehouse and supply chain logistics.
Hospitality: Household management, culinary arts, hospitality and guest services, restaurants and catering.
